In tribute to John, his family would like to invite those celebrating his life to donate to charities he and his wife Barbara supported.   John was born in Nottingham and lived the majority of his adult life there, raising his two children, Claire and Robert.  He was a keen musician, being the organist at St. Mary's Ilkeston, and a life member of Nottingham and District Society of Organists.  John served his community as a magistrate for many years before he retired and took on new challenges with U3A, leading the 'Finding out about Music' group for 10 years and being an active participant in the Art Appreciation and Music groups. 

John was an extremely kind man who would like to think he could still make a difference, and so his family would be very grateful for any donations to these very worthwhile causes.
